What is the Photoshop Central Forum?

IDIG's Photoshop Central Forum is a place for all Adobe Photoshop user to share ideas, concepts, tips and tricks. It is an open discussion area for people to exchange Photoshop information, from the most casual hobbyist to digital imaging masters. The Photoshop Central Forum is frequented by some of the top professionals in digital imaging.

Do I need to subscribe or use a password to access the Forum?

No. The Forum is completely free and open to the public. Anyone may read, anyone may post.

How do I post a message on the Forum?

Using the Photoshop Central Forum is easy. Just click on the option you want in the text command bar: "Post New Message," "(Un)Subscribe," "Search" and "Set Preferences."

Post New Message lets you post a message, beginning a new "thread." (A thread is an indented list of topically-related posts.) If you wish to reply to a message that's already on the Forum, click on that message (or go to the bottom of the page, if you're already reading a message), and use the "Post a Response" form on that page. Your post will become part of that message thread. When you post, you may include images and URL's.

(Un)Subscribe will let you add or remove yourself from an automated list that will actually send you new posts, as they are added to the Forum, to an email address you specify.

Search allows you to do keyword or author searches on the Photoshop Central Forum. You may search for a specific word, phrase or author, within a specified amount of time (variable from 12 hours to the entire life of the Forum).

Set Preferences allows you to specify how messages are listed and viewed. Complete guidelines for the Preferences are listed on the Set Preferences page.

The "Return to Index" link will bring you to the main page of the Forum, where the current messages are listed.

What is appropriate to post on the Photoshop Central Forum?

Anything relating to the use of Adobe Photoshop is certainly relevant. Due to the wide variety of industries that make use of Photoshop, any Photoshop-related side topic is welcome. Such subsidiary topics include scientific imaging, Web graphics, 3D texture mapping, fine art, commercial design, plug-ins and motion picture special effects.

This board is unedited and uncensored, because we welcome all opinions, ideas and comments. Please use this freedom wisely: do not post offensive material of any sort on Photoshop Central, and treat other message authors with respect and common courtesy.

Can I customize how I view the messages on the Forum?

Yes. By clicking on the "Set Preferences" command in the text command bar, individual users can easily override the default display settings to tailor the message index display to their own tastes. They can also search for specific messages based on date, subject or author.

However, since we want to minimize the use of "cookies" on Photoshop Central, you must set your preferences whenever you return to the Forum. The Forum does not automatically recognize return visitors.

Why do some of the older messages sometimes disappear from the Forum?

That's because the Forum defaults to only displaying messages posted within the past thirty (30) days. These messages aren't deleted, just shielded from casual viewing.

How can I view older messages?

Go to the Set Preferences page and specify "Several Eons" in the first pop-up window, and return to the Forum.
